It’s now summertime, so that means you’re probably hitting the beach (or at least thinking about it) and spending a lot more time outside in the sun. At Hanalei we love being outside, but we also know that we should talk more skincare and how important it is to protect yourself from the sun’s harmful rays. This is why we developed our Kukui Body Lotion.
In Hawaii, people are used to constantly being exposed to the elements. And for hundreds of years, native Hawaiians have used kukui nut oil—a natural botanical that’s rich in essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants—to soothe, protect, and treat their skin.
Sounds nice, right? Well, time for some science and a little history. Kukui nut is also known as the candlenut tree. The oil must be extracted from the tree and can be used on its own or mixed with other ingredients to strengthen the benefits.
Since kukui nut oil contains those essential fatty acids, vitamins, and antioxidants, it means that the oil is able to coat the skin and moisturize the skin more thoroughly than other products might. Also, if you have a nut allergy, you should speak with your doctor regarding using our Kukui Body Lotion since the oil can still stimulate an unsafe reaction.
With all the harmful elements out there (sun, wind, etc.), you should take all the necessary precautions to protect and treat your skin. While our Kukui Body Lotion nourishes the skin, it also leave you feeling supple and moisturized all day.
Besides the famous kukui nut oil, Hanalei also uses another special island ingredient in our Kukui Body Lotion: aloe vera. If you didn’t know, aloe vera can be used to soothe skin conditions like sunburns, dry skin, and itchiness. So while you’re getting the benefit of continuous hydration, you’re also getting some protection and prevention. Why wouldn’t we combine these two super components together?!
So throw our Kukui Body Lotion into your work bag, apply it before running out the door—or whatever! Just make sure you’re treating your skin with care this summer and honestly, year ‘round.
